DISCKids – Developing Inclusive Sports Capacity for Kids

The DISCKids Erasmus+ project (2024–2025) is a European cooperation partnership led by the German Frisbeesport Federation (DFV). It aims to increase the participation of children aged 6–12 in disc golf across Germany, Finland, Latvia, and beyond. With support from six partner organisations—including blinc e.G.—the project strengthens the capacity of local clubs to deliver inclusive, health-enhancing, and accessible disc golf activities for young children.

The project provides a variety of open-access coaching tools, translated and adapted from Finnish best practices, and supports local clubs through starter packs, personalized guidance, and inclusion-focused activities. Through its comprehensive dissemination and training strategy, DISCKids promotes disc golf as a low-barrier and family-friendly sport, suitable for children from all backgrounds and ability levels.

  • Start: January 2024

  • End: December 2025

  • Total Duration: 24 month

  • Funded by: Erasmus+ Programme

Project Objectives:

The DISCKids project aims to significantly increase participation of children aged 6–12 in disc golf across Germany, Finland, and Latvia by strengthening the ability of local sports clubs to offer inclusive, high-quality training opportunities. A key focus is on providing health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) while promoting equal access for all children, regardless of background or ability.

To achieve this, the project offers tailored support to clubs through starter kits, counselling, and promotional materials. It builds on Finland’s expertise by translating and expanding their successful coach training and activity resources into English, German, and Latvian—making them freely accessible across Europe.

An important part of the project is the emphasis on inclusion, with activities and tools developed specifically to help underrepresented groups (e.g. girls, children with a migration background, children with disabilities) participate in disc golf.

Key Actions Include:

  • Supporting at least 30 local clubs with equipment and coaching guidance

  • Registering 90+ coaches in a new multilingual online training platform

  • Publishing open-access coaching materials in four languages

  • Organising inclusive events in each project country

  • Running a social media and outreach campaign to raise awareness and ensure sustainability

By the end of the project, DISCKids will have created a foundation for long-term, inclusive disc golf programmes that can be expanded across Europe and beyond.
