GSD - Generators of Sustainable Development
Global Sustainability Development in Adult Education
The GSD project (Generators of Sustainable Development) aims to strengthen sustainability literacy in adult education by developing an open, structured and accessible inventory of digital learning materials, tools, and project examples. The initiative responds to the growing demand for practical, competence-oriented resources that support the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into various adult education contexts.
Building on previous initiatives like T4S and T4SD, the GSD project addresses gaps in the availability of structured and reusable sustainability-related content, especially in non-formal and informal learning environments. It supports adult education professionals in identifying, applying, and adapting sustainability learning resources suitable for their learners and settings.
Duration: November 2023 – October 2026 (36 months)
Budget: Approx. 400,000 EUR
Funding Programme: Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership – Adult Education

Key Project Goals
The main objective of the GSD project is to develop a digital, user-friendly, and expandable Sustainability Literacy and Sustainable Development (SL&SD) Inventory. This inventory will serve as a freely accessible catalogue of open educational resources (OER) for adult education professionals and institutions.
It is designed to:
Support the integration of sustainability topics into adult education across different learning contexts.
Enable the reuse and adaptation of existing sustainability-related projects and learning materials.
Provide guidance for aligning content with competence development in knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
Create a basis for the professional development of adult educators working in sustainability-related fields.
Key Activities
The project is structured around the following core activities:
Development of the GSD Wiki Template to standardize the collection and presentation of sustainability projects and programs.
Identification, tagging, and digital publication of more than 70 sustainability-related projects and materials.
Creation of the GSD Digital Inventory and Compendium Report for adult education.
Establishment of context-based clusters (e.g. formal AE, community education, CPD, informal learning).
Involvement of adult educators in content selection, testing, and feedback processes.
Hosting of multiplier events and stakeholder workshops to promote results and encourage transfer.
